Bangladesh Bagging 5 victories to its name!

In the previous 8 Tests, Bangladesh has bagged 5 matches to its name, which includes notable triumphs in the series against competitive teams like New Zealand (1-1), Sri Lanka (2-0) and Pakistan (2-0). After their recent dominant performance against Pakistan in a two-match Test series, the expectations skyrocketed amongst both fans and cricket analysts, who are more eager for similarly strong performances in their upcoming matches, particularly against India.

Using a different ball: Bangladesh vs India

Bangladesh is expected to be heading to India for 2 Tests slated to begin next week. Litton Das, one of the stars from Rawalpindi, has made it known that the squad has been making an effort to make themselves adapt to the way SG balls are behaving.

Because, this is a major change from the common practice, as Bangladesh often plays with a Kookaburra ball. It is a brand that Bangladesh has been using for home internationals. Also, it was that same brand that was used in the Tests against Pakistan. But on the other hand, India uses SG balls for Test cricket and there is a noticeable difference between the two.

It is said that the white-ball players are undergoing training with Kookaburra balls because the T20Is that come after the Tests in India will be played with the Kookaburra.

Litton Das about SG Ball vs Kookaburra Ball: Bangladesh vs. India

Here is what Litton Das spoke about the difference between the traditionally used Kookaburra ball and the Indian-using SG ball.

“Yeah! India is using the SB ball and this one will be different, and it is very hard to play against this type of ball. When it comes to the kookaburra ball, the older it gets, it becomes much easier to play. On the other hand, the SG ball is completely in contrast to the kookaburra ball. When it is the SG ball, the older it gets, it becomes very tough to get away face-to-face,” Litton Das said.

Don’t speak about the Recent Pakistan series: Says Litton Das to Media!

Litton has additionally made it clear that Bangladesh should not allow themselves to rest on the laurels from their very first series win against Pakistan. Even though he played a crucial part in it and his century revived their side from 26 for 6 in the 2nd Test, he still asked for media not to keep reminding them about it.

“See! While we played against Pakistan, our performances were undoubtedly good, but it has become a past now. So, we must only look at what is ahead and only what is important for us. The media must help us by not talking again and again about the same Pakistan series. I say this because as a player, I have left it behind, and it is already a past for me. All that I have as a goal is to just look forward,” Litton Das clarified.

Litton Das’s role in the team and batting approach

Litton Da’s positioning and role in the team as a lower-middle-order batsman resonates well with his style of game. In some cases, Litton ends up having no choice other than to go for his shots. But he proved that he had other capabilities, by batting for close to 6 hours to lift Bangladesh out of a weak position in Rawalpindi.

“Exactly! I have been playing for more than 10 years, and now it is time that I step up to responsibility with the knowledge and experience that I have gained over the years. Sometimes there are a few deliveries that I believe are to be hit and these days, scoring runs in very essential. In my opinion, what I feel is that I bat the same way as how most batsmen approach the game.”

Litton Das opens up about how he plays with a risk, but at the same time, it is successful.

“YES! You might observe that an aggressive batting approach is risky but successful at the same time because if it has more chances of getting me out, then it also has more chances to let me score higher runs. Usually, I get batting along with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and sometimes with Shakib Al Hasan or Mushfiqur Rahim. All of them are good with their unique style and even if I don’t play my shots, the team score won’t be affected. I just want to play like this and play like I have practiced in my training,” Litton Das added a few more facts.
