In January 2024, the CAN (Cricket Association of Nepal) publicly announced the inaugural season of the NPL (Nepal Premier League) which is planned between 30th November 2024 to 21st December 2024. The league’s official logo was unveiled on 19th August 2024.

The CAN — Cricket Association of Nepal has confirmed that there are a total of 8 franchises competing in the NPL — Nepal Premier League 2024. These 8 franchises represent 8 major city names, but their official franchise names are not announced yet. Recently, the official X account handle of Nepal Premier League posted a video that confirmed the names of 8 prominent cities and asked fans to unleash their creativity by guessing the possible names of the 8 franchises.
Here are the 8 City names whose official franchise names are to be confirmed:

- Lumbini
- Chitwan
- Janakpur
- Pokhara
- Biratnagar
- Sudurpaschim
- Karnali

Nepal is having 8 Franchises for the First Time!
Earlier franchise cricket leagues of Nepal never had 8 franchise teams competing. Also, Nepal’s previous leagues had only 6 teams in the Pokhara Premier League, Everest Premier League, Dhangadhi Premier League, and Nepal T20 League. However, the 8 team’s official franchise names for the Nepal Premier League have to be confirmed by the team owners.

The Nepal Premier League (NPL) team owners have been confirmed by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). Yesterday’s franchise ownership auction decided who owned which of the eight teams.

Independent Hosting of NPL 2024 Tournament: CAN Secretary
An overwhelming response from the fans and other cricket spectators is observed regarding the new inaugural season of NPL (Nepal Premier League) in 2024. Following this, the CAN (Cricket Association of Nepal) has come up with a decision to host the NPL tournament independently.
Paras Khadka, the secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal, confirmed that many reputed business biggies are showing interest in being a part of NPL and Nepal Cricket.
During the NPL official logo unveiling event, Paras Khadka further confirmed that Nepal players will be signed into the team through an auction. On the other hand, foreign players will directly be assigned by the franchise teams.
Playing Format of the NPL 2024 Tournament
The NPL — Nepal Premier League 2024 is said to use the “Round-Robin Format”, where each franchise team of the NPL 2024 will play with every other team participating in the tournament. Each team plays in turns so that it covers competing with all the other teams of the Nepal Premier League, and the top teams in the points table will be promoted to the playoffs.

Final Match Venue of NPL 2024: Nepal Premier League Venue
The official schedule and venue of the NPL-Nepal Premier League 2024 is to be announced soon. However, the NPL 2024 final match’s venue is set to be held in the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground. Popularly known as the TU Cricket Ground, this stadium is located in Kirtipur of Bagmati Province, Nepal.
After the catastrophic 2015 Nepal Earthquake, the ground lost its essence as the fundamental infrastructures were completely destroyed. Later, the Cricket Association of Nepal revamped the entire stadium’s infrastructure. They added more valuable facilities like ground walls, pavilion building, media box, view tower, and VIP Seating Area.
