Bangladesh’s recent multi-format series at home wrapped up after winning the test series by 2-0 and subsequently the 3-match T20I series by 2-1 against Ireland.
The Tigers have completed their international fixtures and will now participate in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025-26 before they open their campaign against the West Indies on February 07 in the T20 World Cup 2026.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s fast bowling coach Shaun Tait believes that BPL could serve as preparation ahead of the World Cup.
As the 3rd T20I against Ireland was Bangladesh’s last international fixture before the T20 World Cup, Tait conveyed a crucial message to all players during the pre-match interview.
‘BPL Before World Cup is Good’: Shaun Tait’s Perspective
Ahead of the final T20I match against Ireland, Shaun Tait confidently said that he wouldn’t be worried about the injuries that occur in the BPL:
“Yeah! I ensure not to think too much about the injuries, which are something beyond my control. But, I believe that BPL before the World Cup is a good initiative to help players stay active in competitive cricket.
There will be positives, although injuries can happen anywhere and anytime, which is not in our hands. Being a bowling coach, my focus is currently on the World Cup.
As the T20 World Cup approaches, tough challenges help us grow, and there could be nothing bigger in T20 cricket. These matches make us push beyond to prepare physically, mentally, and tactically for high-profile contests. ” Tait said.
‘Opposition Should Not Define Team’s Mindset’: Tait’s Strategy
Most importantly, Shaun Tait is clear with his perspective that opposition should not define the team’s mindset:
“See! We should focus on playing good-quality cricket. Whoever it is, whether Ireland, the West Indies, or Australia, the opposition does not matter as we have to play good cricket.
So, it would be good if we got a match tomorrow to try to deliver a memorable performance. This is something that we can ask for right now.
Ireland has been playing some top-class cricket in recent times, but it doesn’t matter to us a lot.
The way we are playing matters a lot as we need to go out there and give our best tomorrow. This is what international cricket is all about, where there is expectation mounting to perform well,” the Bangladesh head coach said.
‘Not To Complicate Thoughts Too Much’: Shaun Tait’s Advice
Before the 3rd T20I, the former Australian pace bowler gave crucial advice to his team to take the positives from the previous game, where they made a remarkable comeback after losing the opening T20I to Ireland.
“No! It is not at all required to complicate our thoughts too much. As I said earlier, playing good cricket and winning the match matter a lot. This is because a victory in an international game helps you gain some confidence.
The best part is that we make use of the confidence gained from the last match that we won and implement it in tomorrow’s game.
Hopefully, we can conclude the series with a win, and then there will be a break for us. If we win, that would be the best thing, and I suggest not to make our thoughts too complicated,” the Bangladesh fast bowling coach said.
Taskin Ahmed’s Importance in Bangladesh’s Pace Bowling Attack
Shaun Tait furthermore spoke about how Taskin Ahmed’s presence can bolster Bangladesh’s pace bowling attack:
“Certainly! Earlier, I saw Taskin playing T10 matches. The relationship between him and me was great. He is a senior player and extremely important for us. Also, he is a good leader, and we have been communicating regularly.
Out of several quality fast bowlers, we have to pick only a few of them, which is indeed a good sign for us. I believe for the first time, the Bangladesh cricket team has witnessed such intense competition. Each bowler is aware of how tough the contest is going to be, and this motivates everyone much better,” Tait said.

Importance of the Ireland Series Against Bangladesh
The multi-format series in Bangladesh allows both teams to build a formidable playing XI combination and test the players’ strength before the T20 World Cup 2026.
Bangladesh finished the series decider contest with a rousing 8-wicket win against Ireland to clinch the series by a 2-1 scoreline. This doubled their confidence levels to enter the forthcoming 10th edition of the T20 World Cup.
Also, the BPL 2025-26 would certainly boost the psychological levels of all players to adapt to the modern era of T20 cricket.
With continuous T20 matches before the ICC’s prestigious tournament, Bangladesh’s intent to aggressively attack from the first ball itself is likely to increase more than ever before in the 20-over cricket.
