PSL 2026: 6 Bangladeshi Key Players Selected, But BCB Grants Conditional NOC!

Bangladeshi cricketers’ participation in the forthcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 remains uncertain amidst the ongoing regional political tensions.

Yet another twist adds as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted only conditional No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to its players.

The forthcoming home series against New Zealand in the April-May window clashes with the PSL 11 scheduled between March 26 and May 03.

Mustafizur Rahman is the only player exempted from the 20-over squad as BCB is looking for other bowling options. While the other four cricketers need to ensure their participation for both the ODI and T20I series, Tanzid Hasan is considered only for the 20-over series.

6 Bangladeshi Players Who Received Partial NOC

Here are those six Bangladeshi cricketers who were picked in the PSL 2026 auction, but didn’t obtain full NOCs from the BCB:

A Balance Between PSL and National Commitments Before the New Zealand Series

To ensure the Bangladeshi players get maximum exposure participating in PSL as well as get prepared for the New Zealand series, BCB granted clearance for four players until April 12. It includes the names of Rishad Hossain, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Nahid Rana, and Shoriful Islam, who remain active in the contention to get selected in the ODI and T20I squads.

BCB selectors are planning Parvez Hossain Emon for the 3-match T20I series and have been granted clearance until April 21.

Bangladesh’s veteran pacer Mustafizur Rahman’s presence is limited to the ODI series as Peshawar Zalmi directly signed him for PKR 6.44 crore. This means his NOC is divided into two phases to make sure the franchise benefits from his services for most of the games.

Here is how Mustafizur is permitted to play the PSL 11:

  • Phase 1: March 26 to April 12.
  • Phase 2: April 24 to May 03.

As the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand is scheduled on 17th, 20th, and 23rd of April, the 30-year-old will rejoin his team in the second half of PSL 2026 via another 10-day valid NOC.

Bangladeshi Cricketers to Start Limited Overs Training Camp

To prepare for the forthcoming white-ball series against New Zealand, a majority of players from the Bangladesh squad will assemble after Eid-ul-Fitr to participate in the training camp on March 27 (Friday).

The Tigers are currently enjoying their well-deserved break following the triumphant 2-1 ODI series against Pakistan.

At the same time, the Bangladeshi players are certain to miss the preparatory camp for the limited-overs fixtures against New Zealand if they travel to Pakistan to take part in PSL 2026.

BCB To Seek Government Permission Before Allowing Its Players For PSL 11

Meanwhile, another shocking twist adds to Bangladeshi players’ participation in PSL 11 as BCB has now decided to obtain clearance from the government. Under normal circumstances, this isn’t a mandatory procedure. Because of the Iran-Israel-US war, some risks add concern to players’ travel and security measures.

Here is what the BCB cricket operations chairman, Nazmul Abedin, had to explain:

“Certainly! Before we allow cricketers for PSL, we require permission from our government. These formalities wouldn’t have been required under normal situations. But, due to the ongoing crisis, we are cautious about players’ safety, and we need to discuss with the government whether it will be safe to travel to Pakistan or not.

We have to take a final call based on the government decision, as it is impossible for us to understand the current situation over there.

The government is well aware of this, and only when we are assured that it is safe to travel will our players be allowed. As of now, we have decided to grant the NOC and permit them to play. However, their participation in PSL depends on the situation at that time,” Nazmul said.

Bangladesh Current ICC ODI Rankings: Another Reason for Conditional NOC

The forthcoming white-ball series against New Zealand holds great significance for Bangladesh to earn a straightforward qualification in the Men’s ODI World Cup 2027. Especially, the 3-match ODI series at home serves as a valuable chance for Bangladesh to surge above the ICC ODI rankings. While a whitewashing victory won’t guarantee the Tigers to bolster their standings, there are chances to overtake the eighth-placed England, which currently stays ahead of them with nine rating points difference.
