Out of nowhere, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian international player, came up with a twist in the tale. Recently, the young cricketer voiced his willingness to carry on playing for Mumbai in domestic cricket.
Earlier, Yashasvi had obtained a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to opt out of playing for Mumbai. That was a sudden withdrawal and now there is another one, but this time it is the willingness of re-entry to play for Mumbai in Domestic cricket. The Mumbai Cricket Association had given him NOC, but now he wants to withdraw it. Also, he has written an Email to the MCA requesting the same.
Jaiswal’s Email to Express his Desire!
Yashasvi Jaiswal wrote in the email expressing his desire to continue playing for Mumbai in Domestic Cricket. He stated that: “Yes! I, the person who signs. I am requesting your attention to approve my proposal. And, hereby, I would like to withdraw my NOC that was given to me. Earlier, I had plans to shift to Goa along with my family. But now it has been cut back! So I respectfully request MCA to reconsider permitting me to play for Mumbai this season.”
Previously, Jaiswal had played for Mumbai and the last time he performed was in the group stage match. And, this match was held against Jammu & Kashmir, where the young batter managed to registered scores of only 4 and 26. Following that, Jaiswal confessed to the MCA about his injury and he explained to them that he won’t be able to play the matches in the knockout stages.
The young, dynamic Indian batsman played 36 first-class games for Mumbai in which he successfully managed to score 3712 runs. Jaiswal made his first-class debut in 2019 and has an outstanding average of 66.21.
Ever since Yashasvi made his test debut against the West Indies in July 2023, he has become the first choice as India’s opener. After that, the 23-year-old batsman played 19 matches, further establishing himself with brilliant contributions to the team on the big stages.
Goa Plan Cancelled: Jaiswal Speaks About Tough Decision.
The prominent young Indian batter, Yashaswi Jaiswal stated about receiving offer for a leadership role. He expressed the tough decision by saying: “For me, that was really a tough decision. Because, whatever I am today is because of Mumbai. The city has not only made me who I am today, but it is also my life. One thing for sure is that I will always be deeply grateful to the MCA.”
In addition, he revealed the great opportunity he received, saying: “Goa has granted me a potentially valuable career opportunity by offering me a responsible leadership role. My initial mission and aim will be to perform well for India. At the same time, whenever I am not part of the national squads, I will be playing for Goa. I would try my level best to take Goa deep into the tournament, as this was a very important opportunity for me. All this came my way surprisingly, and I had to take it.”
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s form in IPL 2025
Undoubtedly, Yashaswi Jaiswal is the best batsman, whose IPL 2025 performance has been stunning. As of the latest matches, he is the leading run-scorer for his team, the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Recently, the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended abruptly because of the rising security threats along the India-Pakistan border.
Before the suspension or temporary halt, the Rajasthan Royals team was eliminated from the list of playoff contenders. Although Yashasvi showcased a great form by scoring 473 runs out of 12 innings, it was all in vain. In addition, Jaiswal had a good average of 43, which includes five half-centuries.
Jaiswal’s Previous Withdrawal and Sudden Re-Entry to Domestic Cricket
Previously, the sudden decision of Yashasvi Jaiswal to withdraw from the Mumbai in domestic cricket pleasantly surprised many. However, he confessed that the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) provided him a great chance of captaincy.
Jaiswal felt that opportunity was something that many of them in the MCA would not consider handing to him easily or might not at all provide such a chance. He took a calculation in his mind about the existence of several other trusted individuals playing for Mumbai. The present captains for Mumbai are Shreyas Iyer in the White Ball and Ajinkya Rahane in the Red Ball.
Yashaswi Jaiswal is a young cricketer and just at the age of 23, it would be a huge step for him to move to Goa. Because, at that time, the Goa team was new and just qualified for the knockouts.
If at all, everything happened like it was planned, Yashasvi Jaiswal would have represented Goa and would have followed Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad. These players of the same generation have done the same, as they were Mumbai Players who went on to represent Goa as well.
