Virat Kohli Feels Disappointed with His Poor Performance in BGT 2024-25

Popularly known as the G.O.A.T of Cricket, the Indian star batsman Virat Kohli is unhappy with himself, mentioning his lack of discipline performance in the present Australian tour. Apart from achieving his 30th test century in Perth, the 36-year-old cricketer was not at all impressive during the ongoing BGT (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) edition of 2024-25.

Ahead of the Boxing Day test, the Indian veteran batter opened up about his performance and the recent pitch conditions in Australia.

In the ongoing 4th test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Kohli faces back-to-back criticism, especially after the physical collision incident with the Australian debutant opener Sam Konstas on Day 1 and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s run-out on Day 2.

Virat Kohli Admits His Lack of Form in BGT 2024-25 Before the Start of the Boxing Day Test

Speaking to Fox Cricket ahead of the commencement of the 4th test at MCG, Virat Kohli recalled the struggles he had to undergo in the last two to three innings:

“Certainly! It is a fact to accept that the previous two or three innings haven’t worked the way I expected. You need to respect the playing conditions and I haven’t been disciplined enough to adapt according to the requirements. This is perhaps the main challenge in test cricket you get to face.

Compared to the last time we played here, the nature of these pitches has become more lively which requires a unique approach. This is something I have taken an interest in by going out there and being competitive in different conditions by stepping up whenever the team requires me to play a crucial role. Yeah, as I said I should improve my performance.

The idea is simple. All you need to do is spend some time in the middle and focus on playing a maximum number of balls by getting your eyes set before you commence your game. But, it is important to respect the conditions and once you follow this, there is an increased chance to score more runs. I will try this as the series is still on,” Kohli said.

Virat about the Dressing Room Atmosphere in Brisbane Test BGT 2024-25

Virat Kohli expressed concern about the atmosphere in the dressing room after the third test match against Australia in Brisbane. Kohli said that the players have shown their real character at the Gabba Stadium in Brisbane, where the lower order contributed valuable runs, and it strengthened the positive feelings of the team by avoiding a follow-on.

Kohli vs Konstas: Sunil Gavaskar Supports Virat, But Fans Backlash Him on Social Media

Recently, the legendary former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has backed Virat Kohli with supportive statements, saying that no unfair leniency was given to him. Amidst a lot of criticism from Australian media after a shoulder bump with Sam Konstas that led to a heated verbal argument on the field, Gavaskar stood strong by Kohli’s side.

On top of that, Sunil Gavaskar accepted the fact that competitive cricket can be played without getting physical. Moreover, he stated that we all would want to see Virat Kohli as a GOAT (Greatest of all time) cricketer, but not for something he was fined or penalized by the ICC.

After a heated confrontation with an Australian newbie cricketer, fans have started posting criticism on social media. They are saying that if the ICC (International Cricket Council) does not give a break to Virat Kohli, then he might continue repeating this behavior again and again.

Most of the fans felt bad because Sam Konstas idolizes Virat Kohli, who is in the twilight of his career, so fans say that he must not leave such an arrogant legacy behind.

Fans name Virat’s blunder as “Selfish Kohli” After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Run-Out

The incident happened during the last ball of the 41st over when Yashasvi Jaiswal struck the ball and was in a hurry to grab a single. He moved to the middle of the pitch while Virat Kohli remained at the non-striker’s end by focusing on the ball. Moreover, he didn’t respond to Jaiswal’s call for a single. And, at that time, Pat Cummins threw the ball at the striker’s end, which was collected by the wicketkeeper Alex Carey leading to Yashasvi’s run-out dismissal.

Unfortunately, the young Indian left-handed batter fell 18 runs short of registering his fifth test century as well as his second in Australia.

This scenario has sparked controversies and led to backlashes on social media as fans call it a selfish act and a cardinal sin to not look at the running partner and focus only on the ball.

Mainly, fans became frustrated as the 102-run steady partnership between Kohli and Jaiswal came to an end, as the duo batters revived India’s innings after the early dismissals of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul.
