Head has been in peak form by scoring 567 runs in just 14 innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in this edition so far. After his successful stint with SRH in the present IPL season, Travis Head opens up about his participation in IPL 2025 and reveals some interesting facts about his future, which will be discussed in detail…

Travis Head About His Participation in IPL 2025: An Aussie Cricketer’s Opinion

In his recent interview, the SRH opener Travis Head confirmed his participation in IPL 2025 and added that he is planning to play the Major League Cricket (MLC) this year, once the T20 World Cup 2024 concludes:

“ Well! After playing the test cricket, I will choose the formats and observe in several ways I am eligible for selection. At present, I want to get back here in the next edition of the IPL. However, after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, I wanted to play in the Major Cricket League in the USA. Also, the next edition might seem to be a lot different, said Travis Head to the news agency PTI.

Travis Head to Prioritize Test Cricket Over Franchise Leagues:

Furthermore, Head declared that he wanted to set a priority for test cricket over the T20 franchise cricket leagues from the forthcoming year onwards.

“Additionally, you need to know some more details. Since 2017, this has been the first season for me in the Indian Premier League. I would have placed all my eggs in the Test basket for the present moment, and I will continue to do that.

In a few years, when I am done playing in the test cricket format, then there might be a few more chances for me to participate a lot in franchise cricket. Currently, I wanted to limit myself to a couple of franchise leagues and focus on test cricket,” Head explained

Relationship Between Travis Head and Pat Cummins:

Interestingly, Travis Head revealed the relationship with his captain Pat Cummins in IPL as well as in international matches:

“Not Too much about it! We’re just close friends and just enjoy the company of each other. When you try to build a relationship over time, he (Pat Cummins) knows how I will perform. If I require anything, I just discuss it with him. But, he gives me the freedom to do what I need to perform well and supports me when required,” said Travis Head.

Travis Head About His Workload Management:

Additionally, Travis Head doesn’t want to make a big deal about highlighting too much about his workload management and tries to keep things in a balanced manner for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024:

“It is all about to start over again! In a couple of days, I will be back home once we are done with this IPL season. I will be at home for at least two to three days and then plan for a trip to the West Indies with my family. We all are fortunate to do what we want to do. But I wouldn’t be doing it forever. So, let’s try to make the best of it as possible as we can. However, we are lucky that we are being looked after very well.

Also, I am aware of the fact that in a few years, I might retire and do nothing. As a result, I have a lot of time to look back and wish I could have been back on tour, keep batting and enjoy the moment to the greatest extent.”

It is well known that Travis Head was one such Australian batter who played a crucial role in Australia triumphing in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 finals against India. In the 1st innings, Head played a solid knock of 163 runs from 174 balls (including 25 fours and 1 six), which helped the Aussies secure a 209-run victory against the Indians.

Similarly, in the ICC World Cup 2023 finals, Head scored a blistering century of 137 runs from 120 balls (including 15 fours and 4 sixes), which completely snatched the victory from the hands of the men-in-blue on their homeground.

Also, the explosive opening combination of Head and the uncapped Indian batter Abhishek Sharma has steered SRH to many huge totals in the current season. Consequently, these duo batters achieved one of the most successful opening partnerships in IPL history by maintaining a 689 run-stand in 14 innings of IPL 2024.

Finally, it is a piece of good news for all SRH fans, as they will watch Travis Head once again in action in the forthcoming IPL season.
