T20 World Cup 2022: India vs Bangladesh – Analysis & Squads

The T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia has so far seen some epic matches and shocking upsets. Several cricket experts and fans were expecting close matches. They were possibly one or two upsets as well, but not so early in the tournament.

Minnows Namibia beat the Asia Cup 2022 champions Sri Lanka in the qualifier round to inflict the first upset of the T20 World Cup 2022. Then, the two-time world champions West Indies were surprisingly eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2022. They lost two consecutive matches against associate nations Ireland and Scotland in the qualifier stage.

The hosts and defending champions Australia were beaten by New Zealand in their first match of the Super 12 group stage. Meanwhile, Pakistan and India played out a last-ball thriller. India won the epic contest, thanks to Virat Kohli’s heroics with the bat.

Subsequently, as we move towards the business end of the tournament, fans will see more high-intensity games and shocking results. In today’s match prediction, we will discuss yet another Super 12 encounter between one of the tournament favorites India, and the Tigers Bangladesh.

Today’s Match Prediction: India vs Bangladesh

Both India and Bangladesh cricket teams have a huge fanbase. There have been a few close games between the two South Asian neighbors. But it’s the elder brother India who has enjoyed more success when these two teams have met.

In addition, the Bangladesh Cricket Team is playing its first-ever T20I series in Australia. However, Bangladesh has had a positive start to the tournament. They beat the newly qualified Netherlands by 9 runs in their first Super 12 match.

India too started their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign on a positive note against Pakistan in what the experts call the “Match of the Tournament”. The two rivals gave everything on the field, only to be separated by a freak Virat Kohli inning.

Coming back to today’s match prediction, India will have an upper hand over Bangladesh. But the Tigers must not be taken lightly, considering that they have made some huge upsets in the past World Cups.

India vs Bangladesh: Match Analysis and Squads

The match will be played at Adelaide Oval on 2nd November 2022 at 1:30 PM IST. Both teams have played 11 T20Is against each other. The Indians have won ten games, while Bangladesh has won one.

The Indian fans will surely remember the epic T20 World Cup 2016 group stage match against Bangladesh that India won by 1 run, thanks to that famous MS Dhoni run out on the final ball of the match.

The Bangladesh team is missing the services of its senior opening batsman Tamim Iqbal. They also dropped senior all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyadh due to a bad run of form. Meanwhile, senior batsman Mushfiqur Rahim announced his retirement from the T20I format before the start of the tournament.

India too is missing their prime fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah due to a back injury. But they will take a sigh of relief after seeing his backup and senior bowler Mohammad Shami returning to the team.

Bangladesh Squad for the T20 World Cup 2022: Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Afif Hossain, Mossadek Hossain, Litton Das, Yasir Ali, Nurul Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Saifuddin, Taskin Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain, Hasan Mahmud, Najmul Hossain, Nasum Ahmed.

Team India Squad for the T20 World Cup 2022: Rohit Sharma (captain), Lokesh Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, Deepak Hooda, Mohammed Shami.

India vs Bangladesh Pitch, Weather, and Toss

Adelaide Oval uses drop-in pitches, which provide some balance between bat and ball. Among all the pitches in Australia, the Adelaide Oval pitch is a batsman’s paradise.

Batsmen from the subcontinent have also performed well in Adelaide and Sydney. In the initial phases, bowlers, especially pacers, will have good pace and carry. Due to its oval shape, it is more difficult to reach the long, straight boundaries.

In the five T20Is played so far, teams batting first have scored more than 181 runs on the pitch.

However, to everyone’s disappointment, rain could play a spoilsport in this match too, as per the Met Department. There is a 60% chance of showers during the match and the maximum temperature will be around 14 degrees Celsius.

In addition, out of the 85 T20Is played at the Adelaide Oval, teams batting first have won 82 games. While the teams batting second have won 32. Hence, the toss could play a key role in the game as the team winning the toss would look to bat first.
