On Wednesday, July 09, Cricket South Africa (CSA) officially revealed the schedule of the fourth season of SA20 2026, which is the country’s popular franchise T20 league.
Unlike the previous three editions that started on a January-February window, the tournament will kickstart on 26th December 2025.
The 6-team tournament opens up with the intriguing clash between the defending champions MI Cape Town and the 2024 season runner-up Durban Super Giants.
While the venues for the playoffs are yet to be finalized, the format remains the same compared to the previous season.

The following are the six teams that will participate in the SA20 2026:

- Sunrisers Eastern Cape
- Pretoria Capitals
- Joburg Super Kings
- Paarl Royals
6 Hosting Venues for SA20 2026 League Stages
All 30 matches in the league stages of the SA20 2026 will be played across these six different cities in South Africa:
- Cape Town: Newlands Cricket Ground
- Centurion: SuperSport Park
- Paarl: Boland Park
- Durban: Kingsmead Cricket Ground
- Gqeberha: St George’s Park
- Johannesburg: The Wanderers Stadium
Format of SA20 2026
As the name suggests, SA20 2026 is a 20-over tournament that will be held in a double round-robin format, where each team will face off against each other twice in the league stages before qualifying for the knockouts.
The top four teams in the points table will secure a berth in the SA20 2026 playoffs, which consist of:
- Qualifier 1: 1st vs 2nd in SA20 2026 points table
- Eliminator: 3rd vs 4th in SA20 2026 points table
- Qualifier 2: (Winner of the Eliminator Round in SA20) vs (Loser of the Qualifier Round in SA20)
- Final: (Winner of Qualifier 1 in SA20) vs (Winner of Qualifier 2 in SA20)
Likewise to the previous season, a bonus point will be granted to the winning team, only if they secure victory with a net-run-rate (NRR) which is 1.25 times more than their opponent.

A total of 34 matches will be played in SA20 2026, which includes 30 fixtures in the league stages and 4 in the playoffs.
