The Indian Premier League IPL 2026 has featured several electrifying batting performances that set the tone for high-scoring thrillers.
However, some of the best fielding moments, such as Shreyas Iyer’s acrobatic fielding efforts, prove why the cash-rich league is still not dominated entirely by the batters. At the same time, there were some big blunders on the field that changed the match outcome.
Here are those top five trending fielding moments that went on to become one of the most replayed clips of the season 19 and continues to become viral on social media.
1. Shreyas Iyer’s Acrobatic Fielding vs Hardik Pandya
The 24th match of the IPL 2026 saw one of the most remarkable catches taken by the Punjab Kings skipper, Shreyas Iyer, against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium.
During the 18th over, MI captain Hardik Pandya struck a massive shot that took the aerial route. The ball seemed to clear the boundary ropes easily until Iyer’s acrobatic fielding backed up the PBKS pacer Marco Jansen.
The 31-year-old arrived from the long on, jumped into the air, and took a reverse cup catch. He ensured to release the ball before crossing the boundary line. Thanks to Xavier Bartlett, who made justice to his skipper’s athletic brilliance by completing the catch.
2. Karun Nair’s Twin Dropped Catches vs Shreyas Iyer
The match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings will always be cherished in IPL history.
Karun Nair dropped PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer twice when he was on 28 and 35 runs. As a consequence, Punjab Kings went on to achieve the highest successful run chase in IPL by chasing down the gigantic 265-run target in 18.5 overs.
Notably, Iyer’s unbeaten 71-run knock off 36 balls (including 3 fours and 7 sixes) anchored PBKS run chase under pressure following the dismissal of the opening batters Prabhsimran Singh (76 runs) and Priyansh Arya.
Hadn’t Nair committed back-to-back catching blunders, there could have been chances of DC to defend their total following Iyer’s potential dismissal at an early stage.
3. Glenn Phillips Double Stunning Catches in Winning Cause vs LSG
One of the elite fielding skills shown by the Gujarat Titans batter Glenn Philips’ two impressive catches against the Lucknow Super Giants at Ekana Stadium.
The first catch was taken when Ayush Badoni attempted a sweep shot towards the square leg. Despite the fading light conditions, Phillips altered his fielding position and grabbed a clear catch towards his chest that shifted the momentum toward the Titans’ favor.
In the 16th over, Abdul Samad attempted to clear the boundary ropes. But Phillips took another catch to tame the Super Giants’ flow of runs.
The 29-year-old’s composed attitude and brilliant athletic movements fetched him a reputation as one of the most agile fielders across the world of cricket.
4. Rashid Khan-Manav Suthar Confusion vs CSK
Apart from the viral catching moments, there are some costly fielding errors, and one such instance includes the Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans match. The miscommunication between Rashid Khan and Manav Suthar turned out to become a troll content on social media.
During the 18th over, the duo of GT fielders moved towards each other at the square leg but paused for a while, expecting one another to complete the catch.
Surprisingly, Rashid and Manav stood helplessly watching the ball safely roll towards the boundary. This fielding error drew severe criticism on social media, leading to one of the most famous fielding mishaps in international cricket.

5. Rishabh Pant’s Missed Run-out vs RR
Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant, who is known for his tactical errors in leadership, featured in another troll moment, which is none other than a missed run-out opportunity.
Against the Rajasthan Royals, the LSG skipper fumbled during the 15th over of the first innings, bowled by Mayank Yadav, when Ravindra Jadeja struck the slower delivery toward the leg side and grabbed a quick single.
Pant failed to hit the stumps when Jadeja attempted to complete his single run, leaving his partner, Donovan Ferreira, clueless in the middle of the pitch.
Although there were multiple chances of dismissing Ferreira, the situation was messed up.
Nicholas Pooran failed to throw the ball accurately, and Pant slipped while trying to collect the ball. Due to a lack of balance, the LSG wicketkeeper’s confusion doubled, and he missed out on his next attempt to target the stumps.
While trying to collect the ball properly, Pant slipped and lost control. Finally, Ferreira safely got back into the crease by diving in. Overall, it was a great escape for RR batters because of LSG’s on-field confusion.
Pant’s sequence of errors went viral online, with fans trolling it as a “comedy of fielding mishaps” moment.
