IPL 2024 Auction | List of Players Traded In IPL 2024

With the Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction less than a month away, the franchises have prepared a list of players traded in IPL 2024.

All the franchises must submit the final list of players traded in IPL 2024 by 26th November 2023 (Sunday).

It is likely that the mini-auction will take place in Dubai on 19th December 2023 (Tuesday). However, BCCI didn’t give any official announcement regarding the event’s schedule or venue.

According to the latest news, the franchises have started preparing the list of players traded as well as retained in IPL 2024.

At present, the trade period for IPL 2024 is currently available. During this time, franchises can purchase or exchange players ahead of the mini-auction.

It would be a tough time for the franchises to choose the best possible combination to lift the IPL 2024 trophy.

Only a few players were traded during this period. At the same time, the franchises retained other valuable players.

Moreover, CSK released Ben Stokes to include additional talented players. Retaining, Stokes would impact in blocking of INR 16 crores to welcome fresh talented cricketers.

Also, the news about captains swapping for IPL 2024 has become viral in recent times. Is it a news or rumor? If the news proves to be true, who are the possible captains to get swapped? Who is on the list of players traded for IPL 2024?

Many cricket fans will definitely find the interesting answers to the above questions in detail…

List of Players Traded in IPL 2024:

According to the latest source of news, here are the three players traded in IPL 2024:

1. Hardik Pandya ( Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians): INR 16 Cr

Hardik Pandya was a part of the Gujarat Titans’ success in the first season of IPL 2022. Pandya was the captain of Gujarat Titans.

As Rohit Sharma focuses on ODI and Test cricket, Hardik Pandya will be the perfect replacement for the captain job in Mumbai Indians.

2. Romario Shepherd (Lucknow Super Giants to Mumbai Indians): INR 50 Lakhs

The 28-year-old fast bowler has played only four IPL matches and took 3 wickets.

Romario Shepherd was a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the year 2022 before moving to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Also, Romario’s capacity to bat at the lower order has fetched only 58 runs in 4 matches.

The 5-times defending champions would greet Romario Shepherd by providing additional chances in the league matches of IPL 2024.

3. Devdutt Padikkal  (Lucknow Super Giants to Rajasthan Royals): INR 7.5 crores

The 23-year-old left-handed batsman has played 57 IPL matches with a total of 1,521 runs. This includes his maiden century of 101 runs and nine half-centuries.

Despite playing every match for his team, Padikkal couldn’t secure his place as a top-order batsman in Rajasthan Royals.

For the past 2 seasons, Padikkal has been impressive with his batting performance. Padikkal contributed 376 and 261 runs in the last 2 editions of IPL for Rajasthan Royals.

However, in contemporary times, the concept of player swapping has become common despite delivering the best performance for a team. In such cases, Devdutt Padikkal found himself swapped with Avesh Khan, who was a part of Lucknow Super Giants.

4. Avesh Khan  ( Rajasthan Royals to Lucknow Super Giants): INR 10 crores

After playing 47 IPL matches, Avesh Khan has an average rate of 26.34 by taking 55 wickets. In IPL 2021, Avesh Khan was the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with 24 wickets.

Especially, Avesh Khan was impressive in the year 2022  by grabbing 18 wickets from just 13 games.

However, Avesh Khan turned out to deliver a disappointing performance for LSG by taking only 8 wickets in 9 matches.

The franchises have swapped the right-handed fast bowler with Devdutt Padikkal to Rajasthan Royals.

Avesh Khan would aim to revive his confidence at Rajasthan Royals, in the presence of Indian bowlers such as Prasidh Krishna, Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Sen, Sandeep Sharma, and KM Asif.

Other possible options to include in the List of Players Traded in IPL 2024

Apart from the aforementioned cricketers, here are the other possible options to include in the list of players traded in IPL 2024:

  1. Manish Pandey: Sunrisers Hyderabad to Delhi Capitals
  2. Deepak Hooda: Rajasthan Royals to Sunrisers Hyderabad
  3. Rahul Tewatia: Gujarat Titans to Chennai Super Kings
  4. Sheldon Jackson: Kolkata Knight Riders to Sunrisers Hyderabad

Players Traded in IPL 2024 with a possibility of Skipper Swapping- A fact or a rumor?

In recent times, there has been talk about skipper swapping in the process of players traded in IPL 2024.

Hardik Pandya has played 7 IPL seasons for Mumbai Indians. The Gujarat Titans may likely swap their skipper with Mumbai Indians.

Though there isn’t any official confirmation from Gujarat Titans, the news has spread like wildfire.

To continue with this deal, Mumbai Indians need to have at least 15 crores in their wallet. Currently, the amount is unimaginable with just 0.05 crores INR in purse for the upcoming mini-auction. Additionally, Mumbai Indians need to release some players in replacement of a single all-rounder.

Moreover, Gujarat Titans wouldn’t easily let Hardik Pandya into the trading process. Under his captaincy, Gujarat Titans were the defending champions and runner-up of the IPL 2022 and 2023 tournaments. Also, Hardik Pandya scored 833 runs in 30 innings with the bat. At the same time, Hardik took 11 wickets for Gujarat Titans as an all-rounder.

Similarly, Mumbai Indians wouldn’t allow Rohit Sharma into the swapping process. The team has won the IPL trophy five times under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy.

The above facts prove that the rumors were spread rapidly based on Hardik Pandya’s unavailability due to a leg injury in World Cup 2023.

Furthermore, skipper swapping isn’t a new concept in  IPL’s history. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane were swapped earlier as the skippers of Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals.

Interestingly, these are the three possible players who can step into the role of Gujarat Titans skipper if Hardik Pandya doesn’t make a comeback from his leg injury:

  1. Shubman Gill
  2. Rashid Khan
  3. Kane Williamson
