IPL 2024: It is a fact that the Indian Premier League (IPL) is the top-rated platform to introduce young talented cricketers globally. 2. Nitish Kumar Reddy (Sunrisers Hyderabad): All-rounder

Before the commencement of IPL 2024, many cricket fans and experts didn’t know who Nitish Kumar Reddy was. During the IPL 2024 auction, the Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him for a price of INR 20 lakhs.

The 20-year-old uncapped Indian cricketer established his name as the best seam-bowling all-rounder for Sunrisers Hyderabad. And aims to grab a spot in the Indian cricket team. In 9 matches, Nitish Kumar scored 239 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of 152.23 and an average of 47.80.  Regarding fast bowling, he grabbed 3 wickets and conceded 86 runs at an average of 28.67 and an economy rate of 9.38.

Nitish’s batting, bowling, and fielding skills prove him to be the young version of Hardik Pandya for Team India.

3. Will Jacks (Royal Challengers Bengaluru): All-rounder

Will Jacks is another overseas star cricketer who has impressed the selectors; with his power-hitting skills, he secured a spot in the England cricket team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

Despite missing a few matches for RCB in the first half of IPL 2024, the 25-year-old English all-rounder used the chance offered to him after Glenn Maxwell’s exclusion from the playing XI due to his poor form.

In 7 matches, jacks scored 189 runs at a strike rate of 185.29 and an average of 31.5. Especially, his magnificent half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders (55 runs from 32 balls- including 4 fours and 5 sixes); and a quick-fire century within 41 balls by smashing 5 fours and 10 sixes against Gujarat Titans (GT) highlighted his aggressive batting style. As an off-spinner, Will Jacks took 2 wickets by conceding 84 runs in 4 innings.

4. Gerald Coetzee (Mumbai Indians): Bowler

Following his brilliant performance in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, the South African pacer Gerald Coetzee was signed by the Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2024 auction for a whopping price of INR 5 crores.

The 23-year-old pace bowler ensured to deliver a decent performance and ranks as the second-highest wicket-taker for his team after Jasprit Bumrah (18 wickets in 12 matches). In 10 matches, Coetzee grabbed 10 wickets by achieving his best bowling figures of 4-34 at an average of 26.23 and an economy of 10.18. As a result, the young Proteas bowler as a core pacer of the South African bowling department is set to play the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.

5. Ashutosh Sharma (Punjab Kings): Batsman

Batting down the order for Punjab Kings. Ashutosh Sharma made a few brilliant cameos that helped his team to win a few matches. He entered the IPL 2024 as a power-hitting batter and maintained the same reputation in the ongoing season.

Out of 9 matches, Ashutosh scored 162 runs in 6 innings at an average of 32.40. He smashed 9 fours and 14 sixes with a strike rate of 172.34. Ashutosh recorded his highest score of 61 runs from 28 balls (including 2 fours and 7 sixes) against Mumbai Indians. Unfortunately, his maiden half-century went in vain as MI managed to grab a 9-run victory. However, Ashutosh established himself as one of the promising young talents to watch out for in the coming days. And fans would be eager to watch another hard-hitting batter in the Indian jersey.
