On Thursday, May 08, 2025, Ambati Rayudu faced severe backlash on social media. This incident followed right after the Former Indian cricketer posted a message supportive of peace during increasing clashes between India and Pakistan.
Rayudu’s Post Supporting Peace Gone Wrong!
Amidst the rising tensions between the rival nations, Ambati Rayudu posted on his official X account stating, “An eye for an eye certainly makes the world blind”. Most of the online users who came across this post found it to be very inappropriate regarding the conflict.
When did this happen?
The former Indian cricketer commented after the Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings match at the Dharamshala stadium was abruptly called off.
Backlashes on Social Media
Fans were highly angered by the way Ambati Rayudu posted seeking peace. They felt something to be ashamed of and started harshly posting their replies. Out of many, a few are as follows:
- An eye for an eye? Another option would be losing both our eyes, and I think only you can support this. So that you won’t be able to see someone else going to the World Cup instead of you.
- Probably that is the reason selectors turned a blind eye to you during the World Cup.
- This is so pathetic and not acceptable at all.
- Ex-Indian Cricketer Ambati Rayudu is a traitor.
Controversy and Rayudu go hand in hand.
Right from the beginning, it is observed that Ambati Rayudu has a bad habit of making controversial statements.
The former Indian cricketer has mocked Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and made fun of their loyal fans for not being able to win the IPL title. He played for the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Although he played a crucial role and great contribution to the team’s success, he has been the center of controversy for his mocking nature.
However, Ambati Rayudu failed to strengthen his position in the national team. Before the 2019, the squad dropped him and for that he took a dig at the selectors for roping in Vijay Shankar in place of Rayudu.
Rayudu gives Clarification to his Post!
After the social media was flooded with backlash, Ambati Rayudu decided to clarify his earlier post. He wrote on X saying: “See! An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, and we must remember this isn’t weakness. It is a reminder that wisdom and justice must stand firm and never lose sight of humanity.”
In addition, he confirmed the earlier statement more broadly, saying, “Yes! It is possible for us to fiercely love our nation while simultaneously holding compassion in our hearts. Also, Peace and Patriotism aren’t meant to be considered different and can walk hand in hand.”
Adding to the above sentence, he continued to wish safety at various parts of India by saying: “Prayers for the safety and peace of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and several other parts of India closest to the border. Our prayers for courage, security, and an immediate solution for all those who have suffered, Jai Hind!”.
Rayudu stands with his stance of Peace!
Despite severe backlashes, the 39-year-old cricketer hasn’t withdrawn from his earlier stance, supporting peace amidst the Indo-Pak war. Rayudu went on to further clarify his previously posted statement on X, and tried explaining the intended meaning behind his tweet.
Ambati Rayudu clarified, saying that: “Yeah! We must stand united, and especially in moments like these, we should not fear but stand together and resolve it. Moreover, I feel great gratitude to our Indian Army. Undoubtedly, they are the real heroes carrying the nation’s weight with incredible bravery, discipline, and dedication.”
In addition to the above lines, Rayudu described the bravery and sacrifices of every soldier will not go in vain by saying: “Your sacrifices won’t go unnoticed, and your bravery is the fuel that’s keeping the tricolor flying high. Our borders are safe because of you, and we wish your strength to forever drive us to safety. We pray that your service continues to open the way for a prosperous and peaceful tomorrow, Jai Hind”, Rayudu added.

Conclusion
It all started because Virender Sehwag and other prominent Indian cricketers spoke out in a bold and aggressive tone.
However, like Sehwag said, it was Pakistan who started, and we cannot keep quiet and watch everything in silence. So, Ambati Rayudu decided to post his point of view promoting peace. Although his intentions were right, the timing he posted while many were suffering due to the Indo-Pak war led to rage and backlashes.
