The 4th season of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) commenced on July 1 (Monday) with a high-voltage clash where the defending champions Kandy Falcons triumphed over Dambulla Sixers in Pallekele (Sri Lanka) by 6 wickets. Fans have been enjoying several high-scoring thrilling contests between these five different teams so far:

As of July 4, Sri Lanka’s Kusal Perera is the only batter to score a century in this season. The 26-year-old right-handed Sri Lankan batter played 41 LPL matches and ranks as the leading run-scorer in the charts by accumulating 1,309 runs in 40 innings at an average of 36.36 and strike rate of 136.78 which includes his highest score of 100 runs. He achieved a century and 11 half centuries to his name. Also, he struck 112 fours and 66 sixes in his LPL career so far.

2. Dinesh Chandimal (Colombo Strikers): 1172 runs in 40 innings

Lokuge Dinesh Chandimal (shortly known as Dinesh Chandimal), after playing 41 matches, ranks as the second-highest run-scorer in LPL history by accumulating 1,172 runs in 40 matches, which includes his highest score of 80 runs at an average of 35.51 and strike rate of 134.24.

The 34-year-old Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter holds a record of scoring 6 half centuries in his 4-year LPL career and has smashed an overall of 130 fours and 31 sixes.

3.Kusal Mendis (Jaffna Kings): 1076 runs in 38 innings

Balapuwaduge Kusal Gimhan Mendis (shortly known as Kusal Mendis) is the third batter in the LPL history to score more runs as well as to surpass the 1000-run mark.

In 38 matches, the 29-year-old Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter scored 1,076 runs with his highest score of 87 runs at an average of 29.88 and a strike rate of 131.70 with 8 fifties in his LPL career so far. Starting from the inaugural season of the LPL in 2020, the 29-year-old Afghan cricketer accumulated 822 runs in 36 matches, which includes his highest score of 73 runs at an average of 22.83 and 150-plus strike rate. He recorded 6 fifties in the entire LPL history by smashing 77 fours and 53 sixes, thereby ranking as the 4th highest run scorer so far.

5. Angelo Mathews (Kandy Falcons): 745 runs in 37 innings

Angelo Davis Mathews (shortly known as Angelo Mathews) has played 37 matches in four seasons of LPL and scored 745 runs in 33 innings by maintaining an average of 28.65 and 124.37 strike rate with 66 fours and 26 sixes. It includes his highest score of 73 runs (not out) and achieved 3 half-centuries to his name, which makes him rank as the 5th highest run scorer of the tournament.
